We use a process called Income Reporting to determine how much income you have. This number then feeds our calculation for your repayments.
Why do we need you to report monthly?
Your ISA contract is legally recognized under all jurisdictions. As such, regardless of the country, you currently or will reside in, you have the legal duty to report your income and status when StudentFinance asks for it.
We need this information to work out if you're eligible to repay and find out if your job status has changed.
Remember, even if you're not currently employed you still need to give us your up-to-date details. We feel that monthly is a good frequency to check this as most people are paid on a monthly cadence.
What happens if you do not complete your monthly report?
If you do not provide the information/documentation regarding your income or any changes in your employment status when it is asked for, StudentFinance may apply penalties such as:
- Assuming your income is twice the Minimum Salary Threshold for the first Payment term year and three times the Minimum Salary Threshold for the second and successive Payment term years.
To avoid all penalties all you have to do is complete your monthly income report in your dashboard you will be notified on the 1st of each month via email so you will have plenty of time. If you have any issues with the income report experience then please contact us at support@studentfinance.com.
1. Do I have to complete the income report if I am working but earning below the minimum threshold?
Yes. In this case, you will have to select that you are working with and write how much you earned the previous month.
2. Do I have to complete the income report if I am studying part-time?
Yes. Part-time programs allow candidates to study and work at the same time. If you are still not looking for jobs, you will have the option to choose in the report that you are not looking for jobs because you are still studying.
3. Do I have to complete the income report every month?
Yes. You will have to complete the form every month until you start with your repayments.
4. Do I have to complete the income report if my job is not related to tech?
Yes, even if you are doing a job unrelated to what you studied your agreement covers your income of all types. Therefore any income you have will need to be reported so we can figure out how much you may need to repay.
5. Do I have to report my income if it varies from month to month?
Yes, our monthly income report is to help with these specific cases. We know that there are different pay schedules for people and not everyone works the same number of hours each month. So the income report will ask you to provide the number specific to the month and ask for evidence of that income.
